The Gathering Nook

BOULDER, CO

With this project, the intention was never to reinvent the home—it was to refine it. We leaned into traditional elements, but approached them with a lighter hand so everything feels current, comfortable, and quietly layered rather than overly formal.

The breakfast nook really sets the tone. The wallpaper brings in pattern, but in a restrained, almost faded way that feels timeless instead of busy. We paired it with simple wood furniture and soft, layered textiles—nothing too crisp or precious. The cushions, the drapery, even the small-scale patterns all work together to create that “lived-in but considered” feeling.

In the bathroom, we kept things intentionally quiet. The tile has just enough variation to add depth, while the linen curtain softens the entire space. It’s a good example of restraint—letting materials do the work without over-layering. The result feels calm and familiar, but still elevated.

The living room is where we allowed a bit more contrast. That deep red tile around the fireplace brings a richness that anchors the space, especially against the softer neutrals. It’s a subtle statement—something you notice more over time than all at once.

Overall, this home is about comfort that doesn’t try too hard. The patterns are thoughtful, the materials are familiar, and everything is just slightly refined.
