Classic with Color
CENTRAL PARK. DENVER, CO
For this home, the direction was pretty clear from the start—we wanted it to feel classic and grounded, but not stiff. Think familiar materials, thoughtful details, and just enough personality layered in to keep everything from feeling too serious.
The dining area is one of our favorite moments because it really captures that balance. The wallpaper leans traditional, but the soft blue tone keeps it fresh. Then we brought in that light, almost playful chandelier—it has a sculptural quality that immediately loosens up the space. Paired with the mid-tone wood table and darker chairs, it creates this really nice tension between polished and relaxed. It’s the kind of room that works just as well for everyday meals as it does for hosting.
The mudroom was all about function—but done in a way that still feels considered. We designed full-height built-ins with warm wood interiors to bring in some contrast against the painted cabinetry. The hooks, cubbies, and lower storage make it easy for everything to have a place, which is key for a busy household. And on the floor, we went with a durable porcelain tile in a bold pattern. It’s incredibly hardworking, but it also adds a graphic moment that elevates what could otherwise be a purely utilitarian space.
In the kitchen, we leaned into classic choices that will hold up over time—simple cabinetry, a farmhouse sink, and a soft blue tile that adds just enough color without overwhelming the palette. Even the Roman shade brings in a subtle pattern that ties back to the rest of the home.
Overall, this project is really about that balance—classic, functional, and comfortable, with moments of personality woven in. Nothing feels overdone, but every detail has a purpose, which is exactly what makes the home feel effortless to live in.
